Dr. Afrodite Sevasti holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET) S.A. where she is currently leading next-generation network and cloud infrastructure and service development. She has also worked for a period of 20 years within GÉANT, the pan-European Research and Education Network both as an engineer and as a Senior Project Manager on SDN and automation/orchestration solutions for data networking. Prior to joining GRNET, she worked as an R&D Computer Engineer at the RA Computer Technology Institute (Greece).
Afrodite also currently serves as an Independent Expert within Horizon2020 of the European Commission and is a member of the Working Group on the National Cloud Policy in Greece. She is also a deputy General Assembly representative in GÉANT on behalf of Greece. Her expertise relevant to the WG lies in network and cloud service modelling and delivery, including business agreements, especially in multiple provider environments. Also in acquisition and operational cost management for network/cloud/storage eInfrastructures. She has participated in the EOSCpilot project and has worked on the technical liaison between GÉANT and the EOSCHub project. Afrodite graduated from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of Patras University, Greece, where she also received her PhD in the field of QoS enhancements on IP-based networks. She also holds an MSc degree in Information Networking from the Information Networking Institute of Carnegie Mellon University.
