  • Co-Chair RDA GEDE Collaboration and the GEDE/C2CAMP work on Digital Objects

Activities of relevance

  • setting up and leading the Technical Group with about 30 experts at MPI for Psycholinguistics and then leading the Language Archiving Group with about 25 experts.
  • setting up experimental labs at the MPI for Psycholinguistics including a variety of channels (speech, intonation, gesture, eye tracking, eeg, etc.), developing a variety of analysis and digital signal processing tools including speech processing and speech perception simulations
  • from 1988 to 2012 member of the Central IT Advisory Board of the Max-Planck-Society and in 2011/12 also member of the IT Strategy Committee of the MPS
  • from about 1995 until 2012 setting up an archive for language resources and developing the Language Archiving Technology tool set
  • since 2000 leading roles in a variety of European (funded by the EC) and national projects (funded by MPG, DFG, BMBF, NWO) and ISO initiatives (ISO TC37/SC4)
  • from 2000 to 2011 responsible for the archiving and accessibility of endangered languages documented in the DOBES programme funded by the VolkswagenFoundation
  • from 2009 to 2012 leading the technical infrastructure work in the CLARIN research infrastructure
  • in 2010/11 member of EC's High Level Expert Group on Scientific Data (Riding the Wave report)
  • from 2011 to 2014 scientific coordinator of the EUDAT data infrastructure and the DASISH SSH cluster project
  • from 2011 to 2012 member of the Steering Board of Research Data Alliance to set it up
  • from 2013 to 2016 member of RDA Technical Advisory Board
